Welcome readers

Hello there. I've been blogging (inconsistently, but still) since 2006. Here you'll find my musings on themes pertaining to my personal life, along with the occasional smattering of topical political/world commentary. Almost all entries are marked "Friends Only".

Happy 20th LJ!

Feb. 5th, 2011

My life is wonderful.

That sums things up pretty well. I'm joyful and stress-free. I'm not sick and I'm not broke. My heart is healthy and my body is strong.

My family is well. The little sister graduates in 4 months and is off to college. Work is fun and I'm more of myself everyday. I have wonderful relationships with a handful of my co-workers (my core group, really) that I love and cherish.

I still work hard at helping people in need and making sure the people I'm around feel loved.

I bought a car on December 29th!

Also, I'm super busy. :D

One of the perks I've enjoyed most about growing up are the constant opportunities to change. I'm sure I had the same opportunities in high school, but back then it was more feasible to stay the "me" that everyone already knew. I've grown a lot during the past few months. I'm less judgmental (something that I really had to work on), I'm more aware of my adulthood and feel more capable of making decisions because of it, I'm happier (all the time, although I still have my moments).

Big news: I like my body. A lot. I caught a glimpse of my thighs in the mirror the other day and had to do a double take. It's weird for me to look in the mirror and LIKE what I see, but I do! I haven't done anything drastically different pertaining to my eating habits, but I'm drinking more water and working out (a little bit). I gave up on trying to lose weight to be skinny a while ago. Right now, I'm focusing on being healthy. I've see what over-eating does to the people in my family and I don't want to have to take 50 pills a day by the time I'm 50. No thank you. But yeah, I'm losing weight.
My goal is to build up some arm muscles. My arms are like jellllllllo. :D My legs are quite strong (from many years of walking to/from public transit), but my little sister can still beat me in an arm wrestling match. I need to but a set of hand weights so I can work on this...

Camp starts tomorrow. I can't believe this is my third year. Wow. I'm still with Tots (four year olds) and Scout is my co-counselor again. We have a session during camp training where everyone takes out time to think of one word that will describe their goals for the summer, writes the word down, then (if they want) share it with the group. This year, my word is "Yes!". I will say "Yes!" to the things I usually say no to, namely social events. I'm going to go to a few staff volleyball games this year and just be more social in general.

How are you?

Happy New Year.

"May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand."

May the road rise to meet you.
May the road rise to meet you.
May the road rise to meet you.

I just love that.
